Final Recommendations
On January 14, the Design Team presented their final recommendations for the master plan site, including final renderings and designs, a cost breakdown of the plan and funding and implementation strategies.
Process Overview
The Riverfront Legacy Master Planning process was born through Project Wichita – a community engagement process to discover a regional vision and the action plan to achieve it. Built upon extensive public input from almost 14,000 voices, the Project Wichita plan identified the river as a key community asset, specifically identifying as priorities: a unified plan for development in Wichita’s urban core, a world-class performing arts facility, a state-of-the-art convention center and a gathering spot in the heart of the city. View highlights of the master planning process below.
Driven by Community Input and Engagement

Builds upon previous plans, studies and new development
Will consider all elements:
performing arts center, convention center, Century II, the former library, pedestrian bridge, WaterWalk area, open riverfront gathering space, as well as connecting elements and locations.
One comprehensive vision and master plan of development
Master Planning Coalition
The Riverfront Legacy Master Plan process was launched by a coalition of community organizations in response to the recent recommendations from the Project Wichita regional visioning process and the Century II Citizens Advisory Committee. The Coalition will work closely with other community organizations and area neighborhoods.
